The MCD had initiated the anti-encroachment drive amid heavy security deployment.

However, the situation soon escalated due to the presence of several protestors, who had formed a human chain around the structure.

“Additionally, the presence of female protesters sitting on the unauthorised structure complicated the law and order situation,” the MCD said.
